Learn To Read

Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy (MBCAL) relies heavily on volunteer assistance. While volunteer tutoring is at the heart of our programs, we have a variety of other opportunities for which we regularly need volunteer assistance.

LITERACY TUTOR: Become a literacy tutor and be matched with a MBCAL student.

MATH TUTOR: Students work on an individual basis with tutor assistance as needed.

STUDENT ASSESSOR: Interview and assess incoming students to help us place their reading level and get them started with tutoring.

COMPUTER TUTOR: Assist adult students with computer literacy.

TUTOR TRAINER: Work with the Instructional Specialist to train incoming tutors.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH AMBASSADOR: Represent Morongo Basin Coalition for Adult Literacy at volunteer fairs, resource fairs, speaking engagements and other special events.

STAFF SUPPORT: Assist with staff support activities.

OFFICE SUPPORT: Fill in for or support Administrative Assistant by performing general receptionist duties.

SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEER: Assist with special events, including the Spell-A-Thon, Literacy Luncheon, Student/Volunteer Achievement Awards, and more.

MBCAL appreciates the many tutors who contribute their time in our classrooms, volunteer at our Literacy Partners, doing outreach, and more.
